What is wheatgrass?

Wheatgrass is the young, farm-grown wheat plant, harvested during the pre-jointing stage when the plant is at its nutritional peak. The water in the grass is immediately removed (dehydrated) to preserve nutrients then the wheatgrass is stored as a compressed pellet in cold storage to preserve freshness.

What is the recommended dosage (daily servings) of wheatgrass per day?

The average dosage taken by customers is 3.5 grams or 7 tablets 3 times a day. This dosage packs an amount of vitamins and minerals that is comparable to the 3 cups of green leafy vegetables the USDA recommends each day.

Many of our customers consume anywhere from 5-21 tablets or 1-3 tablespoons of powder daily. For detoxification, some users may increase their intake to 3-4 times per day. The 500mg tablets are extremely easy to swallow - allowing you to reach your recommended allowance for veggies within a couple of minutes a day. 1 tablespoon of powder can be mixed with the liquid of your choice.

What is the difference between Tablets and Powder?

amOrganic's offers both tablet and powder form for the benefit and ease of absorption. There is no nutritional difference between the wheatgrass tablets or powders - the difference is personal preference. In our efforts to assure absorption, our tablets are not coated with a pharmaceutical glaze (shellac) like other manufacturers. Also, our tablets are not hard pressed, resulting in a very low hardness coefficient.

Do you offer freeze dried wheatgrass?

Unfortunately there is essentially no reliable way to measure enzyme activity in wheatgrass. Freeze dried wheatgrass is produced from wheatgrass juice which is 5% dry matter and 95% water (there is no nutrition in water).

Our wheatgrass is the original "whole leaf" form and is certified 100% organic. We harvest during the jointing stage when the plant is at its nutritional peak and then dehydrate the wheatgrass at low temperatures to preserve the minerals, protein, and fiber that is naturally assembled by Mother Nature. Our dehydrated wheatgrass provides nutrition in the correct ratios and formulas to ensure complete absorption and assimilation in our bodies.

I have a wheat or gluten allergy, is wheatgrass safe to take?

Wheatgrass is harvested at the jointing stage before it turns into a grain. In this stage the grass does not contain any gluten. It is extremely rare for people with wheat allergies to react because they are usually allergic to the gluten found in the wheat kernel. If you are a celiac and cannot consume gluten, you might want check with your doctor first before consuming wheatgrass just in case.

Can I take wheatgrass during my pregnancy?

Wheatgrass is great for prenatal care as it provides the body with nutrients like antioxidants, chlorophyll and folic acid. While we have many customers that have taken wheatgrass before, during and after pregnancy, you should double-check with your physician and make sure you are not taking more than the recommended dosage.

Should I take wheatgrass on an empty stomach or after a meal?

Most literature suggests that taking your daily doses on an empty stomach is the most effective way to maximize all the nutrients that are included in organic wheatgrass. Try taking your doses on an empty stomach and if you experience any discomfort, adjust your timing to after meals.
